Wow what a long and busy half term! I am not sure where the weeks have gone asthe 8 weeks since the beginning of term seem to have flown by. Thank you for your attendance at parent’s evening last week. It was nice to see everyone and we hope you enjoyed looking at the children’s books and talking to the teachers and that you agree the children have been really busy.
Thank you for your contributions to the recent visit from Zoo Lab. The interactive workshop was booked to support work the children have been doing in science about animals and their habitats, the food chain and how animals adapt to their environment. The visit was fantastic. Many of the children were really brave and held or touched a snake!! Miss Parkinson did really well until the rats appeared and then sadly she had to leave the room until they were safely put away!!!
After school clubs
Lots of the children have taken part in and really enjoyed the range of after school clubs. Well done to the Ocarina and Dance clubs for performing in front of the school – you were amazing. Well done to the Year 5 football team who entered a tournament recently and played really well. I was so pleased to hear what great sportsmen you were. There are lots of clubs being offered next term too, so keep a look out.
We had our first visit from the school nurse at the beginning of October. Thank you to the parents who called in for a coffee and a chat, I hope you found it supportive and useful. The nurse will be in again on Tuesday 4th November there will be opportunities for you to ask any questions. Should you wish to talk confidentially to the nurse please let us know and we can provide a room.
Maths for Life
Year 5 and 6 pupils had a fantastic morning yesterday (Thursday 23rd). With the support of eight parents the children enjoyed short presentations and question and answer sessions about the importance of maths in the work place. The feedback from the children was really positive and theygained a real understanding of the importance of gaining qualifications in maths to help them make choices about their career in the future. I can’t thank the parents who supported us enough – you were all amazing, thank you for giving up your time. We would like to hold similar events in the future……. so watch this space.
Thank you for your very generous donations at Harvest. We have just received our thanks and certificate from the food bank. We collected 211.3Kg of food!!!! Amazing!
We received a visit from one of the librarians from Maghull Library last week who presented our children with their certificates and medals for completing the reading challenge over the summer holiday. Myself and the teachers were delighted with the number of children who took part – well done let’s try for even more next year!
After much work with Sefton Council and a lot of hard work from Mr. Hignett we have finally secured double yellow lines on the corner of Green Link. This is making the area much safer for road users and pedestrians. During walk to school week I spoke to the children about safe parking and in particular not blocking the pavements, which are for pedestrians. I know the children have been nagging you and a big thank you to those who are parking safely and ensuring the pavements are safe for us all to use.
You should have received an email with details of the forthcoming book fair so this is just a date reminder. The book fair will be in school from Tuesday 4th to Friday 7th November inclusive.
A big thank you for completing the online questionnaires. I will be providing feedback and looking at your suggestions next half term. We value your comments very much.
I will send out a newsletter the first week back with dates and events for the coming half term including all the Christmas events.
Have a great half term and we will see you all on Monday 3rd November – gosh November already!
