Dear Parents,

Welcome back after the weekend, I hope you and your families enjoyed the gorgeous weather. We have meet the teacher events on over the next two weeks, we appreciate some parents are not able to attend due to work commitments we will, as always, be sending out a summary of any important information after the meetings. As always though if you need to talk to any of the teachers just pop in and make an appointment.

Chess in school

I am delighted having made a link with a National Chess Organisation that from this week children in Year 2 and 3 will have a Chess lesson each week. The lessons will be delivered by chess experts, there has been much research in to the benefits of chess helping children with concentration and strategic thinking. Children in Year 5 and 6 have been given the opportunity to join a lunchtime Chess club on Tuesdays led by one of the Chess teachers.Thank you to one of our parents who put us in touch with the organisation.

Date for the diary

Parents evening will take place on Thursday 16th October from 2.30pm – 8pm (school will close at 2.15pm child care will be available for those who normally attend). Appointment forms will go out nearer the time.

Parent information session

Following the meeting held at the end of last term to outline the key changes within the revised National Curriculum we will be holding a meeting about new assessments arrangements. From this year the government have removed the National Curriculum levels and have introduced a new system of assessment which we would like to share with you. The meeting is planned for Thursday 2nd October at 6pm and will last no longer than an hour. If you would like to attend please inform the school by return email.

Regards
