November Newsletter

Dear All,

We have had a very busy start to this new half term and in run up to Christmas, it gets busier!

The school admin email system was down for two days last week due to an internet connection problem which meant there may have been one or two delays replying to emails. Everything is now back up and running and normal service has been resumed.

The local and national commemoration of Remembrance Day has been especially poignant this year. The pictures and films this weekend have reminded everyone of  sacrifices that should never be forgotten. We will be holding a minute’s silence tomorrow morning at 11am. Poppies continue to be available in school.

Friday 14th November is an extra special busy day at Green Park!

Children in Need

Friday 14th is the BBC’s national  “Children in Need” Appeal and for our pupils, from Nursery to Y6, it will be a non uniform day (for a small contribution) based around the theme of “superheroes”.

Shoebox Appeal

Thank you for all donations  to the shoebox appeal. The collection day is Friday 14th, November so there is still time to send a shoebox into school.

Y3 Stone Age Day

Y3 are going back in time on Friday to the land of the Stone Age with a one day interactive and creative workshop that will culminate with the class performing a play to the school and Y3 parents. No internet for Y3 on Friday!

Tutti Frutti

Y5 have been working with to set up a school tuck shop in a curriculum based school enterprise project. Friday 14th sees the launch at morning play of “Tutti Frutti” with Apricot Crunchies, Spicy Noodles, Mango Whirls and Yoghurt Raisins on sale for 50p each.

To help promote awareness of the project and provide information for parents, the “Tutti Frutti” team will be on the playground at 3.00pm on Wednesday to demonstrate the products that will be available. Watch out “Dragon’s Den” and “The Apprentice”!

Tuesday and Wednesday of this week see Green Park teams taking part in two different football tournaments. The first is at Sefton Meadows for an Active Soccer event and the second takes place at the LFC Academy in Kirkby.

School Photographs

Monday 17th November is individual and family school photograph day.  A letter will be sent home this week.

On Friday 21st November Green Park Y6 will be sending a swimming team to take part in  the Chesterfield School Sports Partnership Gala at  Crosby Leisure Centre.

Reception Class

On 25th November our school nurse will be visiting the Reception Class as part of the national heights and weights screening programme.

“Sticks and Stones” is an anti bullying drama provided by Firehorse Productions for all of our Y2 to Y6. We will be asking for a voluntary contribution of £1.

World War 1 Community Service, St Andrew’s Church, Maghull

Green Park will be sending representatives to take part in this service which takes place on 27th November at 2.30 pm.

There is a separate diary date list for activities happening in December coming along shortly.
